So there are these super sweet orange fruit chewy-like things that we eat often when visiting friends. When I asked what they were, they used the word for an orange. Naturally, I thought it was the fruit part. Then the other day while visiting Özay, I realized that people just use the peelings and then they cut them and curl them and string them like a garland and then boil them in lots of sugar and water. After two days, they’re ready to eat…So interesting that all this time we’ve been eating the peels of oranges.
