The past week has been a little different for us. Sönmez is in Turkey for the semester break and Esma has family visiting. So this week I’ve been hosting old neighbors and new friends over here and I’ve really enjoyed this little break from the normal formal lessons to enjoy more play dates and tea time with friends. It’s been fun to try some new recipes as well. These little cheese pastries are easy to make: they’re basically phyllo sheets filled with two types of cheese and fresh parsley rolled up and fried in sunflower oil.
